Understanding Adenomyosis
WHAT IT IS
Endometrial tissue growing INTO the muscular wall of the uterus — causing it to thicken, enlarge, and bleed internally.
KEY SYMPTOMS
Heavy bleeding · Severe cramping · Enlarged tender uterus · Bloating · Pain during sex · Chronic fatigue
PREGNANCY RISK
Significantly increases risk of placenta accreta, preterm birth, uterine rupture. Prior adenomyosis surgery must be disclosed to OB.
⚠️ If you have had adenomyosis surgery, you must be treated as high-risk in any pregnancy. Demand MRI surveillance — not just ultrasound. This can save your life.
